PINEAPPLE GRAPHICS COMPANY is a small business which was started in Wayland, Massachusetts in 1980. The chief occupation was stencil designing including custom stencil designs. Pineapple Graphics soon branched out into creation of weekly pages of information (recipes, original patterns for sewing and woodworking projects, and much more) for a small local publication. The recipe pages became a cookbook in 1982. A book about stenciling was published in 1983. Beginning in 1990 - with the help of a MacIICX computer - newsletters, brochures, menus, mastheads, logos and more were produced. Website design began in 1996, and is now conducted under the name andresign.com.

WHY IS THE PINEAPPLE CALLED A SYMBOL OF HOSPITALITY? |

|
One of the earliest written references to pineapples was made by Christopher Columbus who discovered them growing in the West Indies. The pineapple is considered by many to be a symbol of hospitality. Why? Legend says that sea captains of the 1800's, returning from tropical lands, brought pineapples home to Northern climates. Apparently they kept the plants alive during the voyages. To indicate that they were home and hoping for visitors, the captains put pineapples on their gateposts to demonstrate their hospitality. Also, pineapples make wonderful stencils, which can be used to decorate homes with the hospitality symbol.
